ORIGNAL LOGO BEFORE REDESIGN

Creating an appealing brand identity is crucial for any small business, especially those focused on youth-centered services. Recently, I had the pleasure of transforming a client’s logo that was trying to incorporate all of it's services into a visual identity.

Understanding the Problem

When I first encountered my client's logo, it felt cluttered and unfocused. It showcased mismatched clipart elements that did not accurately represent her services or target market. Also, how logos will appear in print, smaller on website and other marketing areas is often overlooked, or not fully understood by clients. Their goal of saving money by creating branding themselves, can ultimately hurt them with lack of recognition, understanding, or worse, starting with one thing, and needing to recreate it all over again.

Recognizing the vital role of visuals in establishing a brand identity, I understood that we needed to make significant changes to better align with her name and mission before the client got too invested with their present logo.

Multiple colors, gradient and clipart are all challenging in logo design. Keep colors to a minimal help with branding recognition, reproduction and even costs if clients need embroidered items. This logo moved the eye quite a lot, had multiple/mixed colors and had more of a softer appeal. I felt i lacked the energetic spirit attractive to her targeted youth demographic. Research shows that a clear logo can boost brand recognition by up to 80%. Therefore, it was imperative that we address these issues effectively.

Concept Development

As with all my clients, limited finances are met with a challenge that I'm happy to work with. Considering her name comes with a somewhat obvious and easy logo concept, we discussed how we could design the logo without it being too trite. Color was an important factor. I selected a deep purple with blue undertone.

Typography also played a crucial role. I opted for a friendly, modern sans-serif font that connected with contemporary trends, making it accessible to the youth demographic. Each element of the logo needed to convey the brand's message clearly, engaging the target audience effectively.

The Final Reveal

Once I implemented the necessary refinements, I shared the final design with my client. This was exactly what she was hoping for, but didn't have the software programs or knowledge to create. I provided the client with a w color standard logo, with an option of a signal color for printing marketing items.
