From Clipart to Custom: Elevating a Logo to Stand Out in Style

Sue - Creative Art Department

This was an intriguing project: transforming a client's logo from good to great. The initial design used outdated clipart, which, while functional, lacked the uniqueness and sophistication needed to engage modern customers. The challenge was clear—create a customized logo that mirrored the client’s aspirations and values.

Understanding the Problem

Studies show that 75% of consumers make judgments on a company’s credibility based on their visual aesthetics. In a digital era where first impressions are critical, relying on generic clipart can project an image of unprofessionalism. Therefore, redesigning a logo involves more than just aesthetic improvements; it’s about changing perceptions.

To start, I engaged in detailed conversations with the client. He liked his present logo but wanted to elevate it. We explored their business history, target audience, and what made their products or services unique. This exploration was invaluable. During this stage, we identified elements of the original logo that resonated and others that fell short. For example, the client loved the different T in "Turnings" so we took that one step further and cusomized the font as well. Client has the new logo on his website, business card and medallions that he places in his pieces. I'm very happy the client is so happy.
